Ingredients
Scale
Base Mixture:
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Optional Decorations:
- Assorted food coloring
- Sprinkles, edible glitter, or colored sugar
- Melted chocolate or candy melts
Instructions
- Melt the Butter & Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
- Color the Mixture (Optional): If using food coloring, divide the melted marshmallow mixture into separate bowls and mix in a few drops of different colors.
- Add Cereal: Gently fold in the Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated.
- Shape into Eggs: Grease your hands with butter or nonstick spray. Scoop a small amount of the mixture and mold it into an egg shape. Repeat with the remaining mixture. Let the eggs cool and set for about 10–15 minutes.
- Decorate: Once the eggs are firm, drizzle them with melted chocolate or candy melts and add sprinkles or edible glitter for a festive touch.
- Serve & Enjoy: Allow the decorations to set before serving. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract to the melted marshmallow mixture.
- For a fun variation, mix in mini M&M’s or crushed candy before shaping the eggs.
- For allergy considerations, use dairy-free butter and marshmallows to make it dairy-free.
- Make ahead tip: These can be made a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
